Hello, Beautiful!
Anyone else run to Target to check out the new Hearth and Hand by Magnolia line yesterday? I also may or may not have looked at it online before and after the in-store trip. And again this morning . . . . .
I think I was more excited about the Chip & Jo release than I’ve been for anything along the lines of fashion weeks, awards shows, or even other Target collaborations to date. There’s something about the chicness the Gaines fam elicits from simplicity that makes ya want to spend $34.99 on a large metal lantern because . . . I mean, they’re #LifeGoals
I definitely drug my husband to Target to check out the new line with me . . . partly because he’s my best frand and I love spending every second possible with him, but also because he’s got pretty darn good taste when it comes to fashion.
Just the other day while we were looking at winter coats, I picked up an olive green cargo-style coat with embroidered flowers and tried it on. Thomas made a few comments like, “Ohh, how long were you in the Army?” and “What are all these pockets for, your things?” and I laughed. Even when he said it looked like it was from the Limited Too . . .
But right after I put that coat back and tried on the more elegant maroon quilted coat next to it, a little girl came over and grabbed that darn green flower coat. We just looked at each other like, “Damn, dude.” He was totally right. LOL!
Anyway, my point is that shopping can be a total drag with boys – especially husbands and budgets – but I love that Thomas calls it like he sees it and brings that reality check element to our shopping trips. Even Target trips.
The Hearth & Hand set-up was beautiful to walk up and finally see in-person. All the heart eyes at first sight for the neutrals, greens, and black accent colors of the products and the in-store display.
I have to admit, I was kind-of disappointed that Hearth & Hand wasn’t necessarily an entire new section of Target devoted to the line, just both sides of one aisle. I’d seen a few Target stores on Insta going all out with everything build-your-own-bouquet parties to America’s fave couple actually camping out – or, at least pretending to camp out – in front of their local Target store to celebrate the launch, so I was a little bummed when I walked up to the display and it looked and felt like just another day at my Target.
A few first impressions on the Hearth & Hand line:
- I love anything plaid, so I’m ecstatic to see that dark green plaid is making a style comeback. I adore the dark green plaid design featured in the matching family “Union Suit” onesie pajamas.
- There’s a special heirloom quality to the classic items like the Christmas ornaments and the wooden dollhouse, but I also loooove finally having Joanna Gaines-approved garlands, wreaths, vases, and totes right at my fingertips.
- I love the soft muted greens, whites, and blacks of the basic kitchen wear, like the dishes and bowls, but at the end of the day those are items I can grab from Walmart, Home Goods, or pretty much anywhere else and save a pretty penny while I’m doing it. As much as I’d love to have an entire kitchen full of Joanna Gaines-says-they’re-THE-bowl bowls (maybe one day, a girl can dream!) there are a few unique pieces I’d rather spend my money on instead, like home decor section (think pitchers and nesting homes!).
- I didn’t expect quite so much Christmas right away, and I found myself wishing there was a little bit of that “Joanna Gaines’s Closet Essentials” element in the mix. I definitely wish I could’ve snagged some tops or jewelry similar to what Jo sells online through the Magnolia Market and wore on “Fixer Upper.”
Overall, I’m loving what the Gaines family is putting out there. Heck, I always have. I didn’t buy anything in-store to show self-restraint and adultness in front of my husband, but I had non-buyer’s remorse as soon as we got home and placed an online order that should be here this Thursday! I can’t wait to share my pick of the Target Gaines goodies with ya’ll!
Just in case you haven’t been to Target to do your own damage yet, here are a few tips and tricks to keep in mind when it comes to shopping for the new Hearth & Hand by Magnolia line:
- The his and hers coffee mugs are everything, but they’re already sold out pretty much everywhere, including online. This is not a tip as much as it is a reminder that my birthday is February 9th / they will likely be back in stock by then. You’re welcome.
- The galvanized lanterns are absolutely stunning, but if you just can’t quite justify spending $34.99 on a large one (like I couldn’t), walk around at Ikea and Home Goods . . . you may just notice a lot of the elements of the Hearth & Hand line at a much more affordable price!
- The matchy-match can-I-die-they’re-so-cute Union suit pajamas are only available online, not in store. When I ordered my solo pair yesterday (thanks, Hubs, really leaving me hanging here) they were still in stock!
- Hearth & Hand is a new owned brand by Target subject to a multi-year contract that involves refreshing the product EIGHT TIMES per year. You read that right, Boo. EIGHT TIMES. EIGHT NEW SETS OF JOANNA GOODNESS PER YEAR. So don’t worry if you missed the launch on Sunday and your local store is sold out of your faves! There will likely be a restock, and then soon after that some new product will drop! You’re actually better off, because you won’t be broke like the rest of us, LOL!
I hope you’re loving the Hearth & Hand by Magnolia line as much as I am! Don’t forget to set your DVRs because the new – and FINAL – season of “Fixer Upper” premiers on November 21st! I’m not ready for it to end, you guys!
